Owning a Cattle Dog
Well as I see it, a cattle dog can be the best dog in the world if you put in a lot of time with them up front, but if you don’t, they can live
Most people own dogs for companionship, whether it be a dog that they can snuggle up to or one to join them on their walks. But after adopting two young dogs, I’m discovering that they can really be a much bigger part of your life. I joined a local dog training club and quickly discovered that there was so much more to do then just obedience training. It wasn’t long before my husband (Mark) and I and our two dogs were trying out all kinds of dog sports. We’ve competed in agility, scent work, lure coursing, dog diving, and even herding trials. The four of us have taken trips together and I have been on “girls’ trips” with just Josie.
I’m building this website to be a resource for people looking to make the most out of their relationship with their dog(s). Regardless of whether you just want to spend time with your dog around town, or want to compete in dog sports, I hope you’ll find this site useful and inspiring!

What’s more fun than doing agility with your dog? Doing agility with your dog as part of a team! Every year in June, the Dog Agility Competition of Florida (DACOF) holds a team agility competition

It was fun, rewarding, exhausting, and sometimes a little stressful! I felt a mixture of sadness and relief as I sent my foster dog off with his furrever family.

More than anything, dog agility is about communicating and having fun with your dog.

From my point-of-view during the test, it looked like Josie was running amuk and I was expecting the judge to put a halt to it at any moment.

So Josie and I are off on a 10 day adventure! I’ve never taken her anywhere overnight before, so 10 days is quite a commitment. Day 1 We headed north for Gainesville. Out first stop
